Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 244 AM EDT Mon Aug 24 2020 Valid 00Z Tue Aug 25 2020 - 00Z Tue Sep 01 2020 Light to moderate trades are expected to persist across Hawaii over the next week. A broad upper-level weakness is forecast continue drifting slowly westward, eventually moving away from Hawaii over the next couple days. Scattered windward showers are expected through this time frame, supported by PWs in the 1.20-1.60 inch range. By midweek, a somewhat drier air mass (PWs in the 1.1-1.3 inch range) is expected to spread across Hawaii, as ensembles show consensus that upper-level ridging should become established across the state, keeping shower activity relatively sparse by that time. A relatively strong and expansive surface high developing well north of Hawaii by the weekend should strengthen trades a bit for Hawaii. In general, model/ensemble solutions were comparable, with no major differences noted. Ryan
