Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 217 AM EDT Wed Aug 26 2020 Valid 00Z Thu Aug 27 2020 - 00Z Thu Sep 03 2020 A relatively quiet weather pattern is expected across Hawaii over the next week. Models/ensembles continue to show good consensus that an upper-level high will build and persist across Hawaii though late this week and into next week, with a strong surface high becoming established well north/northeast of Hawaii. This will support moderate trades along with a relatively dry air mass through the period, with relatively sparse windward shower activity. A tropical wave is shown in relatively well-clustered model/ensemble guidance passing well south of Hawaii Sun-Mon. At this time, it looks to remain far enough south that the primary effects on Hawaii would be a tightening of the pressure gradient, and a period of rather gusty trades. The Big Island may see the northern edge of some deeper moisture associated with the wave, and perhaps a brief increase in shower activity as the wave passes. Ryan
