The model guidance agreement during the course of the medium range
period remains average to above average and features high pressure
north of Hawaii strengthening somewhat into this weekend. This
should allow for an increase to the trade winds this weekend into
early next week. Shower activity will favor windward areas. By
early to mid next week, easterly trade flow is well established.
The latest GFS favors a bit more rainfall over the course of the
period compared to the ECMWF, associated with a weak disturbance
retrograding nearby early next week. For now, a compromise is
preferred given the relative good agreement from a mass field
perspective.
