Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 339 AM EDT Fri Sep 04 2020 Valid 00Z Sat Sep 05 2020 - 00Z Sat Sep 12 2020 Guidance shows good overall agreement over the next seven days, with a trade pattern featuring some fluctuations in moisture and wind strength but with showers generally in the lighter half of the spectrum. From late this week into the weekend expect some strengthening of the trades while a pocket of lower precipitable water passes through. Then from late weekend into early next week trades should weaken a bit as high pressure retreats into the Northeast Pacific, while an area of greater moisture (precipitable water up to 1.50 inches or so) crosses the state. Finally, high pressure building back to the north of the area should strengthen trades again Wednesday-Friday. During that time precipitable water values are most likely to be near to moderately below normal. Late next week the 00Z GFS/GEFS mean end up farther southwest than other guidance with an east-central Pacific upper low, weakening the surface high north of the state relative to consensus. The 18Z GFS was more representative of the majority cluster. Rausch
