Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 339 AM EDT Mon Sep 07 2020 Valid 00Z Tue Sep 08 2020 - 00Z Tue Sep 15 2020 Today's guidance consensus continues to show a persistent trade pattern for at least the next week with some oscillation of wind speeds and generally light showers tending to favor windward locales. Some localized land/sea breezes could briefly develop during times when the background flow is weakest. An area of greater deep moisture passing through early this week will provide some modest enhancement of rainfall into early Tuesday. After this moisture departs there is good agreement on precipitable water values settling to below normal values of near to below 1.25 inches after midweek and extending into early next week. Continued retreat of Northeast Pacific high pressure will lead to weaker trades through Tuesday. Then a surface high building closer by to the north of the state will support stronger trades Wednesday to Thursday night. This high and the trades are likely to weaken Friday-Saturday, followed by a steady pattern Sunday and some strengthening Monday as high pressure to the north and northeast of the state builds again.
