Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 345 AM EDT Tue Sep 08 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Sep 09 2020 - 00Z Wed Sep 16 2020 Most guidance displays a continuation of the trade pattern over the next seven days with some variability in wind speeds. Showers will tend to favor windward locales but there may be some land/sea breeze influence during times when trades are relatively weaker. Rainfall totals will likely be in the lighter half of the spectrum as consensus is persistent in showing precipitable water values declining to near or below 1.25 inches for most of the time after midweek and into early next week. Initially light-moderate trades should trend somewhat stronger Wednesday-Friday as high pressure builds north of the state, followed by a lighter trend during the weekend as the high weakens. Winds may strengthen a little next Monday-Tuesday with most guidance rebuilding the surface high a bit. However by then low-predictability aspects of evolution aloft farther to the north (00Z CMC having the least confident solution) lead to some questions over exactly how strong the surface high will be.
