Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 313 AM EDT Sun Oct 04 2020 Valid 00Z Mon Oct 05 2020 - 00Z Mon Oct 12 2020 The overall weather pattern across Hawaii and adjacent marine areas is not expected to be eventful for the upcoming week with no major storm systems expected. The surface high to the northeast of the Islands on Sunday will still be strong enough to produce moderate trade winds through early Monday. A weakness develops in the surface ridge as an inverted trough develops northeast of the state, and the overall trade winds become lighter than normal with some sea and land breezes developing at times. However, this is not expected to be a big deal in terms of potential rainfall. By next weekend, the surface high builds in between 30 and 40 degrees north, with the EC mean stronger with the ridge compared to the GEFS mean. Hurricane Marie is not expected to affect the state as its eventual remnants should pass well to the northeast, with perhaps some elevated easterly swells. Most of the deep tropical moisture from the ITCZ should also remain well to the south of the Islands, with some occasional trade wind induced showers across the favored terrain. Hamrick
