Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 339 AM EDT Thu Oct 8 2020 Valid 00Z Fri Oct 9 2020 - 00Z Fri Oct 16 2020 The remnants of Hurricane Marie are expected to slowly drift westward over the next several days, and reach the general vicinity of Hawai'i by Sunday as an inverted surface trough. The subtropical ridge centered near 35 degrees north is expected to gradually move eastward, with a weakness in the ridge developing by early next week north of the state. The EC mean is displaced a little to the east with this overall pattern compared to the GEFS mean. By the end of the forecast period next Thursday, a quasi-stationary front should still exist north of the state, with the GEFS mean slightly faster. No major surges of deep tropical moisture from the ITCZ is currently expected, and shower activity should be light and across the favored terrain. Hamrick
