Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 353 AM EDT Fri Oct 09 2020 Valid 00Z Sat Oct 10 2020 - 00Z Sat Oct 17 2020 Through the end of the week, somewhat drier conditions than normal are forecast as the southwestern edge of the subtropical high pushes into the state. However, early next week there are indications that moisture should increase to modestly above normal as a surface trough moves across, remnants of former Marie. The mid/upper-level pattern shows potential for troughing to the north of the state around Monday going forward. GEFS ensemble members are favoring this troughing coming southward early more than other guidance. This pattern could particularly influence the northwestern islands and provide support for heavier showers there. Moisture (precipitable water) values should remain generally around normal though. Otherwise, light precipitation across favored terrain can be expected. The larger scale upper trough may push a cold front toward the state late in the week, but may stay north--this will continue to be monitored. Tate
