Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 317 AM EDT Tue Oct 27 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Oct 28 2020 - 00Z Wed Nov 04 2020 ...Locally heavy rain the next few days... An upper low and surface boundary to the northwest of the area will meander just to the north of the area for the next several day. Thereafter, troughing south of the Aleutians should help push it eastward with lingering uncertainty if heights rise or another upper low/trough fill in from the NNW (per 00Z ECMWF). Ensembles mostly suggest keeping any secondary troughing to the east. Deep tropical moisture currently over the island chain (precipitable water values near and over 2 inches) will be sustained on southerly flow as the surface cold front slowly moves through the island chain the next few days. Modest rain will pass through the area with locally heavier amounts possible. Rainfall should start to diminish by the end of the week and especially the weekend as drier northwesterly flow moves in behind the front. By next Mon/Tue, trades will attempt to resume as higher pressure builds across the area. Fracasso
