An upper trough/low lifting well to the north of Oahu has forced a
surface cold front through the islands in a drying pattern.
Showery conditions may renew some this weekend as a modest
moisture axis swings into the state underneath a new amplifying
upper trough to the north/northeast of the state. Trades should
return Tue/Wed in the wake of this system in a pattern with mainly
terrain based showers, especially as some deeper moisture feeds in
from the southeast. The models and ensembles remain the good
agreement and develop an upper trough/closed low to the northwest
of the islands into later next week. A southward trailing cold
front will be slow to approach the western islands, but deepening
lead moisture feed may fuel showers with some heavy downpours in a
pattern with disrupted trades.
