Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 219 AM EST Tue Nov 3 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 4 2020 - 00Z Wed Nov 11 2020 An increase of the Trades through the middle of the week will generally favor a pattern with mainly terrain based showers, especially as some enhanced moisture advects in from the southeast. Models and ensembles remain in very good agreement, and signal the development of a rather anomalous closed low/organized surface low to the northwest of the islands by the end of the week. A southward trailing cold front will be slow to approach the western islands as upper ridging builds over the state from the northeast. Deepening lead moisture may feed into the western islands to fuel showers/heavy downpours late this week and into the weekend as the front stalls and southeast veered/weakened trades develop over the islands. The trades should turn easterly and strengthen as the low lifts northward away from the region as high pressure settles in to the northeast of the state. Hamrick
