Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 438 AM EST Wed Nov 04 2020 Valid 00Z Thu Nov 05 2020 - 00Z Thu Nov 12 2020 The ensemble means are in good agreement that a closed upper level low will develop near 35N, and drop southward to near 28N by Thursday morning near the far western islands. Meanwhile, an upper level ridge will remain in place near 150W and this will cause the upper low to lift to the northeast and evolve into an open wave by Saturday. A second trough will likely develop farther to the west near 175W by late Sunday. The Trades should generally be east-southeasterly and lighter through early Friday as the surface trough helps to weaken the pressure gradient some, and then become moderate by early next week as the surface high rebuilds to the north. With the exception of the far western Islands that may receive more widespread rainfall, typical trade wind driven showers should be the norm through this forecast period. Hamrick
