Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 1256 AM EST Thu Nov 5 2020 Valid 00Z Fri Nov 6 2020 - 00Z Fri Nov 13 2020 A rather potent upper level low will be situated to the northwest of Hawaii on Thursday with an accompanying surface low centered near 30 degrees north. This feature is progged to lift northward and evolve into an open wave by early Saturday as a large upper ridge builds in to the northeast of the state. By early next week, both the GEFS and EC means are in very good agreement on the development of a second closed upper low around 175W, and track generally westward as the upper ridge rebuilds north of the state. In terms of sensible weather, light to moderate Trades for the end of this week and into this weekend are expected to become stronger as the surface high builds in to the north and tightens the pressure gradient, with windy conditions at times. The two low pressure systems are expected to be far enough away to keep the heaviest rainfall well offshore, with mainly terrain induced showers for much of the forecast period, with no significant incursions of deep tropical moisture expected.
