Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 243 AM EST Tue Dec 01 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Dec 02 2020 - 00Z Wed Dec 09 2020 Upper ridging will nose in from the west and likely remain into next week. Lower level moisture is forecast to increase from the east/southeast (precipitable water values 1.00-1.50 inches) late Thu into early Fri but overall mid-level moisture levels will stay on the drier side. As a result, only scattered windward/mauka showers are forecast, but this will be dictated by sea/land breezes when trades are weak on Tuesday into early Wednesday. Trades may become modest to breezy late in the week as a surface high slips eastward just to the north of the area before returning to more typical levels next week as a front approaches Kauai but likely stays a couple hundred miles to the northwest. A blended solution between the GFS/ECMWF should suffice as they differ a bit in how much to erode the upper ridge next week. Fracasso
