Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 120 AM EST Sun Dec 6 2020 Valid 00Z Mon Dec 7 2020 - 00Z Mon Dec 14 2020 A cold front extending southward from the intense surface low over the Gulf of Alaska is expected to approach the northwestern Islands through Sunday and then gradually wash out. The relatively weaker Trades that have been over the state this weekend are expected to become slightly stronger from the east as high pressure briefly builds near 30 degrees north. By mid-week, a col develops in the subtropical surface ridge as another cold front approaches to the northwest of the Islands from another strong North Pacific system, and this will cause surface winds to veer to the southeast and weaken some, before gradually increasing again by the end of the week as the high to the north builds again. This will equate to a relatively uneventful weather pattern for Hawaii this week with no significant moisture surges or rain events expected. There will be the typical windward showers across the eastern Islands, and perhaps some sea/land breeze induced showers. Some enhanced swells from the North Pacific storm systems will likely affect the northern coasts. Hamrick
