Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 218 AM EST Tue Dec 8 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Dec 9 2020 - 00Z Wed Dec 16 2020 A weakening cold front a few hundred miles north of the Islands will continue to dissipate on Tuesday. The surface high north of the state will continue moving away to the east as a col develops in the ridge axis. A powerful storm system near the Aleutians for the end of the week will send another cold front towards the northern Islands. This will cause surface winds to veer to the southeast and weaken for a few days, before gradually increasing again by the weekend as the high to the north builds again. This will equate to a relatively uneventful weather pattern for Hawaii through early next week with no significant moisture surges or rain events expected. There will be the typical windward showers across the eastern Islands, and perhaps some sea/land breeze induced showers, although this activity should mainly be light. Some enhanced swells from the North Pacific storm systems will likely affect the northern coasts. Hamrick
