Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 253 AM EST Wed Dec 9 2020 Valid 00Z Thu Dec 10 2020 - 00Z Thu Dec 17 2020 A developing surface low near 30 degrees north will continue to lift northeastward over the next couple of days with a weakening cold front approaching the Islands by Saturday. High pressure builds in north of the state this weekend followed by another weakness in the subtropical ridge by early next week. There are significant differences between the 12Z ECENS and 00Z GEFS mean by Sunday and beyond, with the ECENS stronger with the next storm system passing north of the state. This will equate to a relatively uneventful weather pattern for Hawaii through early next week with no significant moisture surges or rain events expected. There is some hint in the guidance for some more widespread rainfall by Wednesday as an upper trough approaches. There will be the typical windward showers across the eastern Islands, and perhaps some sea/land breeze induced showers, although this activity should mainly be light. Hamrick
