Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 300 AM EST Sat Feb 06 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Feb 07 2021 - 00Z Sun Feb 14 2021 Mainly dry and cool post-frontal air should prevail for the remainder of the weekend as the slow-moving cyclone located well north of the state moves farther away. A developing low pressure wave associated with the next front will approach from the northwest by Monday. This system will attempt to combine with returning moisture from the previous front off to the southeast. A period of rain/showers ahead of the cold front can be expected to sweep across the islands on Tuesday. Meanwhile, there has been a model trend of keeping the axis of heavy rain associated with the previous front from reaching the Big Island on Tuesday. Thereafter, the global models are now unanimous in taking the amplifying wave well to the north of Hawaii. Towards the end of next week, there are increasing model signals for an upper low to form to the east of Hawaii. Only the latest GFS indicates a surface reflection of the upper low at this time. Kong
