The approach of a shortwave and front is forecast to stall or slow
as it approaches 165W this week. It will compete with a strong
ridge of high pressure centered well northeast of the area. The
resulting pressure gradient is then expected to bring moderate to
breezy easterly trade winds for much of the upcoming week.
Precipitation will be favored along the windward and terrain
areas. Expect enhanced surf conditions for those east-facing
beaches. By this upcoming weekend, lower heights aloft/weak
troughing may allow for an increase in precipitation coverage,
though details are less certain by that point in time.
