Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 254 AM EST Mon Mar 01 2021 Valid 00Z Tue Mar 02 2021 - 00Z Tue Mar 09 2021 Latest guidance continues to show an extended period of brisk trade winds in association with a series of high pressure centers to the north of the state. Consensus indicates the strongest winds will be early in the week followed by some slackening mid-late week, followed by a potential moderate increase around the weekend as another high reaches north of the area. Showers will focus primarily over windward/mountain locations though with some rainfall extending into other areas at times. Upper troughing that should initially be aligned east-west and shift to northeast-southwest around midweek (GFS/GEFS runs still generally on the deeper side from that time onward) may provide some enhancement to rainfall. The best potential for higher totals will likely be from Friday through the weekend as a front dropping down from the north increases moisture. Latest models and ensemble means all show this increase of moisture but with some differences in specifics. Before then the guidance shows a drier period with precipitable water below climatological values. Rausch
