Models and ensembles reasonably agree that moisture will gradually
increase this weekend, followed by an influx of deeper tropical
moisture next week as trades tend to veer to the southeast with
modest upper trough reinforcement over the state. High pressure
meanwhile will build and bridge to the north then northeast of the
islands to support moderate to brisk trades. A preferred guidance
composite favors a wetter period with heavy rainfall potential for
the Big Island enhanced over windward terrain. There is an
emerging guidance signal for amplified upper trough/low digging to
the north of the state heading into next weekend that may also
force an a precipitation focusing front toward the islands.
