Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 336 AM EDT Sun Mar 14 2021 Valid 00Z Mon Mar 15 2021 - 00Z Mon Mar 22 2021 Area of low pressure along a pesky cold front draped over the area will move westward in the short range, with southerly to southeasterly flow again over the area. However, drier air will be slowly moving into/through the state aloft, lowering rainfall coverage and amounts. Weak upper troughing will persist over the area through much of the week, but should start to rise by next weekend as upper ridging builds across the central Pacific. Around Wednesday drier air will approach the area from the north as a frontal boundary lingers especially to the east of the region. Breezy northeast trades will support windward and mauka showers with generally light amounts as precipitable water values hover around one inch. ECMWF was slower to raise heights than the GFS, but a middle ground solution should suffice. Fracasso
