Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 256 AM EDT Thu Apr 1 2021 Valid 00Z Fri Apr 2 2021 - 00Z Fri Apr 9 2021 A large mid-latitude surface high will be building in north of the state through the weekend and then settling some to the southeast. At the surface, a weakening cold front trailing from the surface low between Hawaii and California will likely approach the northern Islands this weekend before gradually dissipating. In terms of sensible weather, light to moderate easterly trades should prevail through Saturday, and then becoming stronger by early next week as the pressure gradient intensifies from the strong high to the north. The GEFS and EC means are in good overall agreement on this pattern developing. The greatest coverage of showers are expected across the windward terrain of the Big Island, but there are not any organized storm systems on the horizon for Hawaii over the next seven days with the deep tropical moisture remaining south of the state.
