Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 338 AM EDT Thu Apr 08 2021 Valid 00Z Fri Apr 09 2021 - 00Z Fri Apr 16 2021 Most guidance continues to offer similar ideas through the forecast period. The current regime of below normal precipitable water values and moderate to brisk northeasterly trades will give way to a rebound in moisture (though perhaps only toward normal values) and lighter trades this weekend as shortwave energy drops south toward and over the main islands. Rainfall from showers may increase somewhat while there could be some sea/land breeze influence when trades are weakest. Expect passage of the upper trough on Monday to yield another period of drier conditions that should extend into midweek. Meanwhile high pressure building into the central Pacific will support a steady strengthening of trades, returning shower focus more to windward/mountain areas. After Wednesday moisture may increase somewhat as a front approaches from the north. Rausch
