Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 302 AM EDT Sun Apr 11 2021 Valid 00Z Mon Apr 12 2021 - 00Z Mon Apr 19 2021 A modest rebound in moisture, showers with light trades may last into Monday as a slow moving upper trough/low spins to the northeast of Hawaii as associated shortwave energy rotates down over the islands. A favored composite of well clustered guidance suggests that ample mid-latitude upper trough amplification to the north of the state mid-late week will eject the upper trough/low to yield a period of drier conditions for the islands. Moisture and showers will increase late week as a front moves into the state from the north. Post-frontal high pressure building into the central Pacific may then support increasing trades and a returning focus for lingering showers over windward/mountain areas. Schichtel
