Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 307 AM EDT Sat Apr 17 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Apr 18 2021 - 00Z Sun Apr 25 2021 A pair of upper lows will wobble from the Northeast Pacific into western North America during the next week as upper heights slowly rise near Hawai'i. A weak boundary may touch off some showers during the next few days as trades remain light but increase Sunday into Monday out of the east to southeast. With atmospheric moisture below average, generally light windward/mauka showers are expected next week as a frontal boundary sinks southward toward Kauai. This front may be fighting upper ridging that may build in from the west by late in the week/next weekend per the ensembles and ECMWF/Canadian (GFS was a bit weaker). Overall prefer a solution nearer to the ECMWF as it has had a better, though not perfect, handle on the amplified Pacific pattern overall vs the GFS. Fracasso
