Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 310 AM EDT Tue Apr 20 2021 Valid 00Z Wed Apr 21 2021 - 00Z Wed Apr 28 2021 A cold front will approach the islands from the northwest, stalling just north of Kauai. Precipitable water values are expected to be near to below normal which supports generally light windward showers. Heights will rise for the end of the week into the weekend as an upper high builds to the northwest of the area. This may allow weaknesses aloft to slip in from the east but a mostly dry pattern is still expected with no organized areas of heavy rainfall. Light and variable trades will become easterly as the front approaches except for Kauai which may see more variable trades out of the northeast at times. Trades may increase Fri-Sun as high pressure slides by to the north and settles/weakens to the ENE of the Big Island around 145W. Another front may be well northwest of the area by next Tuesday.
