A fairly typical trade wind pattern should be in place across the
Hawaii domain through early next week with a surface high anchored
well to the northeast of the Islands.  The ensemble means are
indicating the development of an inverted surface trough over the
western Islands by Tuesday in response to a building upper level
trough near 170 degrees west, with the GEFS mean showing a
stronger trough than the EC mean.  As a result, the ECMWF/EC mean
are favoring mainly trade wind based showers, whereas the GFS/GEFS
are indicating the potential for heavier rainfall southwest of the
state by the middle of next week.
