Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 347 AM EDT Mon Jun 14 2021 Valid 00Z Tue Jun 15 2021 - 00Z Tue Jun 22 2021 Today's guidance offers good agreement and continuity with most aspects of the forecast. Trades will be moderate to brisk as high pressure currently north of the state positions itself over the eastern Pacific from Wednesday onward. Primarily windward/mountain-focused showers should increase somewhat compared to the start of the week as one band of moisture brushes the northwestern islands around Tuesday-Wednesday and another area of moisture passes through from east to west mid-late week, while an upper weakness/low settles over the area Tuesday or Wednesday onward. Guidance consensus shows precipitable water values decreasing a bit by the weekend, to near or even slightly below normal. There are some differences for another area of moisture that could approach the area by next Monday. The 00Z GFS is the most enthusiastic in bringing enhanced moisture to at least the Big Island on Monday. Other solutions vary in the specifics but are some combination of slower and/or more suppressed with this moisture. Rausch
