Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 428 AM EDT Tue Jun 15 2021 Valid 00Z Wed Jun 16 2021 - 00Z Wed Jun 23 2021 Trades will initially be moderate to brisk as high pressure settles over the eastern Pacific. Winds may trend a bit lighter for Friday-Tuesday as the pressure gradient slackens a bit. This pattern will support mainly windward/mountain focus for showers but some rainfall may reach leeward locales at times. One band of moisture associated with a weakening front may brush the northwestern islands into Wednesday while another pocket of moisture crosses the area from east to west after midweek. Precipitable water values will likely trend to near or slightly below normal values for the rest of the period, with any areas of greater moisture likely passing by to the south. Latest guidance is gradually refining the evolution aloft, with a weakness mid-late week forming a better defined upper low just northeast of the state late Friday through the weekend. Then an upper ridge building in from the east should push the upper low to the west/north. The weakness/upper low may produce some enhancement to rainfall at times from midweek through the weekend.
