Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 849 AM EDT Fri Jun 25 2021 Valid 00Z Sat Jun 26 2021 - 00Z Sat Jul 03 2021 The guidance agrees that anomalous troughing north of the 50th state caused by a series of deep cyclones near the Aleutians causing a front/shearline to stall over the Papahanaumokuakea National Marine Monument and -- initially -- a positively tilted trough extending towards the island chain leads to an initially weak north-south subtropical ridge offshore the West Coast of the lower 48 which initially lead to the resultant trades should weaker than average. As the upper trough northeast of the islands pulls away and the front/shearline in the northwest islands disintegrates on Sunday, the trades should regain some strength as a surface high offshore western North American slowly builds and reorients northeast-southwest to the north of Hawai'i. This caused the trade winds to return to moderate levels and renew a pattern with windward terrain/mountain focusing showers next week. Roth
