A strong subtropical ridge persists well northwest of the Islands
as the next ridge expands west from California this weekend. An
associated surface ridge axis approaches the Islands Sunday
through Monday. Lower strength trade winds persist through
Saturday, increasing slightly ahead of the surface ridge on Sunday
and persisting through Monday. This somewhat moist trade flow
maintains widely scattered windward terrain/mountain focusing
showers through the weekend before weakening early next week as
the surface ridge brings drier air.
