Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 210 AM EDT Tue Jul 13 2021 Valid 00Z Wed Jul 14 2021 - 00Z Wed Jul 21 2021 High pressure centered at the mid-latitudes dominates the north central Pacific through next weekend into early next week. Trade winds remain moderate to brisk through this weekend. The trade flow maintains widely scattered windward terrain/mountain focused showers each day this week, with maxima expected in the volcanoes of Maui and the Big Island. Local enhancements may occur with each low amplitude tropical wave that passes through the islands. The persistent low-mid anticyclone north of the islands keeps advecting drier air around its periphery, so the airmass will have precipitable water values predominantly below 1.5 inches except at or slightly above 1.5 inches in the vicinity of tropical waves.
