Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 338 AM EDT Fri Jul 16 2021 Valid 00Z Sat Jul 17 2021 - 00Z Sat Jul 24 2021 Guidance agrees that high pressure initially north of the state will quickly give way to a stronger high to the northwest, supporting persistently strong trades through the period along with rainfall focus over windward/mountain areas--but occasionally straying to other locales. An upper level low/inverted trough along with somewhat higher precipitable water values will cross the region from east to west during the weekend. These could combine to increase rainfall coverage and amounts briefly. For most of next week expect precipitable water values to fluctuate within half to one standard deviation on either side of normal. Some degree of upper ridging should build into the area early-mid week after departure of the weekend upper feature but specifics aloft become more ambiguous toward Thursday-Friday. Rausch
