Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 209 AM EDT Sat Aug 07 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Aug 08 2021 - 00Z Sun Aug 15 2021 Trade winds should ease and stay light through much of the next week as weak troughing moves over the region and pushes high pressure well to the northeast of Hawaii. Increasing mid-level moisture can be expected across the region associated with the upper trough, but nothing more than generally light scattered showers for most and locally enhanced activity across the typical windward and mauka areas is expected. The trough should drift north of the state later next week as high pressure again tries to build over the island chain resulting in some strengthening in the trade winds by next weekend. Models and ensembles show fairly good agreement overall on this pattern. Santorelli
