Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 308 AM EDT Sun Aug 08 2021 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 09 2021 - 00Z Mon Aug 16 2021 Trade winds should ease and stay light through much of this week as weak troughing moves over the region and pushes high pressure well to the northeast of Hawaii. Increasing mid-level moisture (possible remnants of former tropical cyclone Jimena) is expected to cross the region early this week but shouldn't bring more than just generally light scattered showers for most and locally enhanced activity across the typical windward and mauka areas. The trough should drift north the state late week as high pressure again tries to build over the islands bringing drier conditions and a more typical trade wind pattern by next weekend. Models and ensembles continue show fairly good agreement on the overall large scale pattern with some uncertainties in the details. Santorelli
