Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 320 AM EDT Mon Aug 09 2021 Valid 00Z Tue Aug 10 2021 - 00Z Tue Aug 17 2021 Trade winds should stay light through much of this week as weak troughing moves over the region and pushes high pressure well to the northeast of Hawaii. An area of increased mid-level moisture is expected to cross the region Tuesday into Wednesday but shouldn't bring more than just generally light scattered showers for most and locally enhanced activity across the typical windward and mauka areas. The trough should drift north and west of the state late week as high pressure builds back in north of the islands bringing drier conditions and a more typical trade wind pattern by next weekend. Models and ensembles continue to show fairly good agreement on the overall large scale pattern with some uncertainties in the details. Santorelli
