Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 316 AM EDT Tue Aug 10 2021 Valid 00Z Wed Aug 11 2021 - 00Z Wed Aug 18 2021 Trade winds should stay light through much of this week as weak troughing moves over the region and pushes high pressure well to the northeast of Hawaii. Periods of showers are expected for most of the state with locally enhanced activity across the typical windward and mauka areas. By this weekend, high pressure may again try to build over the region briefly before another upper disturbance drifts in from the east. Trade winds should gradually increase through the weekend, remaining moderately breezy into early next week. Models and ensembles continue to show fairly good agreement on the overall large scale pattern with some uncertainties in the details. Santorelli
