Trade winds across Hawaii should gradually strengthen again as
surface high pressure tries to build well north of the region. An
initial weak upper trough should move west of Hawaii on Wednesday
as an upper ridge builds over the state until the weekend when
another upper trough moves in from the east early next week. This
pattern would support periods of showers in the forecast with
locally enhanced activity possible across the typical windward and
mauka areas. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible across Maui
and the Big Island through Wednesday as an area of higher
mid-level moisture moves through.
