Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 301 AM EDT Fri Aug 13 2021 Valid 00Z Sat Aug 14 2021 - 00Z Sat Aug 21 2021 The latest models and ensembles show good agreement that surface high pressure should build and remain north of Hawaii through this weekend and into the beginning of next week. By Tuesday, an inverted surface trough is evident in the ensemble means that should slowly track westward across the Islands. By the end of the forecast period next Friday, a weakening Hurricane Linda should still be well east of the Big Island, with the main thing being elevated surf for east facing beaches. Trade winds should generally be moderate to breezy for most of the upcoming week, with perhaps some abatement in conjunction with the surface trough early next week. This pattern would support relatively dry weather across most of Hawaii with clouds and showers mainly confined to windward terrain. Hamrick
