The latest models and ensembles show good agreement that a
retrograding upper level low and associated surface trough will
swing through mainly north of Hawaii Sunday into Monday. This
feature will act to dampen the trade wind flow regime Monday into
Tuesday, perhaps extending into Wednesday. This will favor the
local daytime sea breeze and nighttime land breeze regime. After
mid-week and its passage, the typical trade wind flow will
increase for the state. This flow supports a drier pattern but
precipitation chances will be favored during the daytime sea
breezes across windward terrain areas.
