Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 347 AM EDT Fri Aug 20 2021 Valid 00Z Sat Aug 21 2021 - 00Z Sat Aug 28 2021 The 03Z Central Pacific Hurricane Center advisory for Tropical Storm Linda shows the system becoming post-tropical shortly, with a remnant low likely to track near Kauai by next Monday. Models and ensemble means agree that an area of enhanced deep moisture accompanying the remnant low will cross the state from east to west during Sunday-Monday and depart by Tuesday, so expect some increase of rainfall during the first part of the week. There should also be a period of lighter winds to the south of the remnant low track. Weather effects over northwestern areas will be very sensitive to the exact track, with only a slight southward change potentially leading to a significant increase of winds/rainfall at some locations. Consult the latest CPHC products for further information on Linda. By mid-late week the state should return to a moderate-brisk trade pattern as supported by mid-latitude high pressure while precipitable water values settle to modestly below normal levels. Thus primarily windward and mountain rainfall should be in the lighter half of the spectrum. Also most rainfall should be fairly light in the trade pattern existing late this week ahead of Linda's remnant low and moisture. Rausch
