Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 343 AM EDT Sat Aug 21 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Aug 22 2021 - 00Z Sun Aug 29 2021 Guidance continues to highlight the Sunday-Monday time frame for the state to see the primary effects of the remnant low associated with former Hurricane Linda. Associated moisture will bring a period of potentially heavy rainfall while strong winds will be possible to the north of the surface low track. Although current guidance is rather tightly clustered around a low track through the central islands, this represents a meaningful southward adjustment from 24-36 hours ago. The recent variability illustrates the ongoing uncertainty for determining the weather conditions at specific locations. After the remnant low's westward departure expect the pattern to settle into a more typical trade regime. Heights aloft will decline somewhat mid-late week as an upper low travels northeast of the area but precipitable water values are likely to be about one standard deviation below normal. Thus expect generally windward/mountain showers to be in the lighter half of the spectrum. Trades may weaken gradually as mid-latitude high pressure retreats northeastward. Rausch
