Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 328 AM EDT Tue Aug 24 2021 Valid 00Z Wed Aug 25 2021 - 00Z Wed Sep 01 2021 Guidance agrees quite well for the expected pattern evolution through the period, with a typical trade regime becoming established after the remnants of Linda progress to the west of the state Tuesday. Winds may decrease slightly with time mid-late week as high pressure to the north retreats northeastward, followed by some oscillation in strength over the weekend. While an upstream high will merge with/overtake the initial high, an upper low expected to settle north of the state may help to weaken the surface gradient and resulting winds next Monday-Tuesday. Most of the period should feature precipitable water values 0.5-1.5 standard deviations below climatology as areas of greater moisture travel to the north and south of the region. The below-average moisture should keep most windward/mountain-focused shower activity on the lighter side. Rausch
