Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 301 AM EDT Sat Sep 25 2021 Valid 00Z Sun Sep 26 2021 - 00Z Sun Oct 03 2021 Increasing moisture is expected for this weekend as higher precipitable water values stream into the southern islands, associated with a surface trough tracking south of the state. Thus showers are likely to become more widespread through Sunday especially across windward areas of the Big Island, and winds could become a little more breezy in the trough's vicinity. Otherwise, easterly trade winds are forecast to persist over the next several days as a mid/upper-level high is forecast to drift slowly westward to the north of Hawaii through early next week, while a high pressure system at the surface shifts slowly eastward well north of the state. Generally quiet conditions are forecast through much of the workweek, though by the latter part of the week, moisture may increase once again as ridging eases a bit. Tate
