Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 348 AM EDT Wed Sep 29 2021 Valid 00Z Thu Sep 30 2021 - 00Z Thu Oct 07 2021 Rounds of surface high pressure systems tracking well north of Hawaii should lead to moderate to breezy easterly trade winds through much of the period. Meanwhile in the upper levels, the state should be generally underneath lower heights for the next week, and an upper low could even form just to the north of the islands over the weekend. The weaknesses in the upper flow should allow for some periods of increased available moisture approaching from the south, beginning as early as Thursday. So increasing showers are possible, especially for windward areas of the Big Island initially. Depending on the position of the upper low, showers could increase for other islands as well this weekend into early next week, so this will continue to be monitored. Tate
