Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 347 AM EDT Thu Sep 30 2021 Valid 00Z Fri Oct 01 2021 - 00Z Fri Oct 08 2021 Rounds of surface high pressure systems tracking well north of Hawaii should lead to moderate to breezy easterly trade winds through much of the week. Meanwhile in the upper levels, the state should be generally underneath lower heights through the first half of next week, and an upper low is forecast to form just to the north of the islands this weekend. The weaknesses in the upper flow should allow for some periods of increased available moisture approaching from the south and support for showers. The first round of showers is likely today (Thursday) particularly over windward areas of the Big Island, and Friday evening into Saturday could be another period of enhanced moisture. Islands farther west could also see showers developing over the weekend as the upper low provides support. Into next week, timing and placement of additional showers is more uncertain, but overall it appears that early in the workweek could see drier conditions, with moisture increasing once again around midweek onward.
