Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 201 AM EDT Wed Oct 20 2021 Valid 00Z Thu Oct 21 2021 - 00Z Thu Oct 28 2021 Hawaii and adjacent waters will be within a col in the subtropical ridge as a weakening front approaches and stalls to the north, thus resulting in weaker winds and some development of sea breezes during the day. By Friday and going into the weekend, the ridge settles back in near 30-35 degrees north and increases the pressure gradient of the state along with stronger trades. Towards the end of the forecast period, both the ECENS and GEFS mean are indicating the potential for another break in the ridge over the northwestern Islands by the middle of next week. Aloft, a weak upper level trough is expected to pass south of the state on Friday followed by upper level ridging by the weekend and beyond. There may be some enhanced showers across windward terrain on Saturday and into early Sunday, but overall no major rainfall events are currently anticipated over the upcoming week as deep tropical moisture remains confined south of 20 degrees north.
