Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 342 AM EDT Sun Oct 31 2021 Valid 00Z Mon Nov 01 2021 - 00Z Mon Nov 08 2021 For the first half of the week, light and variable winds are expected over Hawaii due to a pattern disrupting the typical trade winds--a strong surface low pressure system traversing eastward well to the north of the state (around 40N latitude). Meanwhile, weak fronts are expected to dissipate just to the north of the state over the next couple of days, which could enhance moisture somewhat, especially over Kauai and Oahu. Given the weak overall winds, daytime sea breezes will dominate and cause showers over areas where they set up, with nighttime land breezes tending to clear out the clouds and rain. By midweek onward, surface high pressure builds in north of the state, causing a return to moderate to locally strong easterly trade winds and thus rain showers for windward and mountain areas. Then we will continue to monitor the possibility of enhanced moisture coming into Hawaii by late week into the weekend, which still has quite a bit of variability among model guidance. Tate
